St Nicks 2001
It's all over. And has been for a couple of months, and so this is the write-up. Details of 2002 here.
For 2001 we opted to stay in the now traditional SOC hotel, the Polaris. Things don't seem to have changed since I first went there back in 1985! The ownership has changed several times, and the current owner, Rik, is the third in my time of visiting.
The changes over the years have seen the restaurant close and only B&B being available. The change for 2001 was the bar closing... no beer, no drinks.
This year there were 7 SOC members, Graham & Sara Walker on their RGS BeeEmm, Mark and Julie Seager on a GSX1100, John Larkin on a VFR800, and Claire and myself on the B12.
The beer and drinks problem was sorted by going across to the supermarket in the square and buying cans and bringing them back. Rik didn't mind and I expect there was hardly likely to be the same level of petty mindedness that would have been evident in the UK.
Anyway, the run out was quite exciting and we have some pics to show we were there!
The 2002 event is being organised by Mark Seager and details will appear on the above link as soon as they are available. The dates in 2002 are 29th & 30th November to 1st December. Mark is going to look into booking us into different hotels, but as it gets quite packed for with booze-cruisers and rallyists, we may end up back in the Polaris!
Some pictures from the 2001 event have been posted in the Galleries.
