Science club is designed to allow pupils to have a little more freedom than is necessarily possible during normal science lessons in school. Pupils are not taught in the old fashioned way but rather encouraged to find out for themselves. Most of the work is practical experiments and investigations, which can also be carried out at home (with the permission of an adult) so they are completely safe.
Here is a list of some of the activities we are planning to do:
"Red cabbage indicator" - making an indicator to find out if something is an acid or alkali.
"Growing Pains" - performing a play about how plants grow.
"Bouncing Custard Balls" - Make balls that bounce using custard powder and a few other magic ingredients.
Science club will take place at a venue in Luton or Dunstable during the summer holidays. It will take place on the same day of each week and will last for 2 hours. We haven't decided which venue it will be or which day of the week it will be yet - but will tell you as soon as we know.
Science club will be run qualified tutors from Teach-me Tuition Service. You will be sent details of all the tutors before you join the science club.
