The following Papers have been arranged without any reference to the different periods of time in which they were written, but as they might best serve to introduce, illustrate, or complete each other.

  CONTENTS

Hans Christian Oersted may be better known for his discovery of electromagnetism in 1820- the law of reciprocity between electrified bodies and the magnet, but in his book ‘Soul in Nature’ he presents his philosophy. This friendly Dane appears to have had his own magnetism, having apparently huge rapport with fellow intellectuals of the day, including Fichte, Schelling, Tieck, Rumford, Ritter, Weiss and many others. He is reported to have astonished all who came in contact with him with his unusual depth of learning and active mind.

For my part I felt others might wish to access Oersted’s philosophical ideas, especially if thinking ‘around’ with philosophy of mind. This is an area of interest for me, so any comments will be much appreciated.
