Popular Link - How To Remove DRM from WMA music files

Remove DRM

Before you do ANYTHING, download and install all the programs you need - Windows Media Player 9, Nero Fast Burning Plugin, CDmage, and an audio converter.

First, open the music you want to remove the DRM from in Windows Media Player 9. This does not work with version 10! In some cases, you need to play the track (even just for a few seconds) before you can burn it to a CD.

Then click "Copy to CD or Device" and make sure Nero Fast Burning Plugin is shown on the top right.  (If you can't see the "Copy to CD or Device" button, go to VIEW > FULL MODE)

Once you've done this, click on COPY in the top right of the Windows Media Player window, and the Nero Plugin will open up.  Select "Image Recorder" as the CURRENT RECORDER option and click BURN.

You will then be prompted to save a file (YOURFILENAME.nrg) - save this somewhere you can find it, like your desktop. Then, close down Windows Media Player and open up CDmage.  Go to FILE > OPEN and select the .nrg file you've just created.

Right-click on the AUDIO listing in CDmage, go to "Extract Tracks..." and make sure "WAV File" is selected.  Save the file somewhere you will be able to find it (like your desktop) and close CDmage.

Open the WAV file in your Audio Converting program, select your output as MP3 and click on CONVERT.

BINGO - Un-Restricted MP3 of the music you've paid for!
