You can win things with kids, Hansen - posted by Paul on Thursday 12th September
Stefan Moore proved last night that you can win things with kids as he smashed home the 2nd for Villa last night in a 2-0 victory over Charlton Athletic, Kinsella was also superb against his former club. Villa literally played six at the back with Ronny Johnsen making his debut in front of the back five, also lets not forget De La Cruz's first goal for Villa, hopefully the first of many for the Ecuadorian. See the match report for full details and line up.

Taylor Tips Crouch to Deliver - posted by Paul on Wednesday 11th September
Graham Taylor has tipped beanpole striker Peter Crouch to deliver in tonights game against Charlton. Villa have netted a solitary Premiership strike in four fixtures, despite boasting six forwards on our books. Darius Vassel is injured for the game tonight so it is likely that Angel Crouch and Allback will start for Villa and Leonhardsen and Johnsen may make Villa bows.

Villa Vs Bolton - posted by Luke on Friday 30th August
Villa have gone down 1-0 to Bolton today at the Reebok stadium. To read the match report go here.

Midfielder Unveiled - posted by Luke on Friday 30th August
Villa have bought a new centre midfielder before the deadline as expected but it wasn't Muzzy Izzet of Leicester who many thoguht would be signed it was Tottenham player Oyvind Leonhardsen which doubles the number of norwiegen players at the club after the signing of Ronny Johnson yesterday. The Transfer fee is undisclosed but believed to be a free transfer after the former liverpool man couldn't make it into the first team. The last 3 signings Villa have made have been 30 or over with Kinsella being 30, Johnsen being 33 and now Leonhardsen being 32. To see his profile go here

Johnsen incoming - posted by Luke on Thursday 29th August
Finally Ronny Johnsen has signed from a free transfer on a one year deal. He had to say this
"I'm feeling fitter than ever and I want to put the injury nightmares behind me."
and
"But now I’ve got a club and can settle down. I can get back to playing on a regular basis."
He might not start the match on Sunday against Bolton because he hasn't had a full pre-season.

Johnsen incoming - posted by Luke on Thursday 29th August
It looks as if former Manchester United defender Ronny Johnsen will be signing for Villa inside these next 48hrs. He will be replacing the transfer listed Alpay who will be frozen out of the first team if he fails to secure a transfer before saturdays transfer deadline. Johnsen will be signing for free as his contract ran out at Manchester United. Johnson in my opinion was United's best denfeder but failed to have a regular start for United due to injuries.

Villa get off the mark - posted by Luke on Wednesday 28th August
Villa have picked up their first point of the season in a 1-0 home win over newly promoted Manchester City, the solitary goal was scored by local boy Darius Vassell. To read more go to the match report page here

Spurs 1 - 0 Villa, but don't despair we were class. - posted by Paul on Sunday 23rd August
Ok , so we were beaten by a lucky Jamie Redknapp goal today but do take into account that Den Richards kneed poor Pete Enckleman in the head and while he was regaining consciousness Redkanpp couldn't miss. However i want to give a bit of credit to Taylor for bringing in Kinsella he was brilliant yesterday and was involved in everything, aldo Taylor went all out with 3 upfront in the 2nd half and that takes guts, and it nearly paid off we had 12 shots on target Spurs had 3 and scored one of them, the only thing i would have to say about yesterday is we need to find that killer instinct in the box so maybe it is something Taylor will work on before Wednesday's game against Man City.

Kinsella Signs, but Holland deal is dead - posted by Paul on Saturday 24th August
Mark Kinsella signed for Aston Villa yesterday in a 1m deal from Charlton and will go straight into the squad for the game against Tottenham today, on the bad side Matty Holland has decided not to join Villa due to the personal terms not being worth leaving a club and city he loves, so hopefully we can bring in one more midfielder and maybe a centre back due to the immediate departure of Alpay to Leeds before the deadline day.

Midfielder on his way, its about time! - posted by Paul on Wednesday 21st August
Matt Holland will travel to Birmingham tomorrow to finalise personal details after Ipswich today accepted an undisclosed offer for him, reckoned to be around 4.5m which his old club Bournemeouth will receive 25% of the fee.

Matt Holland - posted by Luke on Tuesday 20th August
It is becoming increasing likely that Villa will be purchasing Irelands World Cup midfielder from Ipswich Town. It is well know that Villa need a new midfielder after selling George Boateng to 'boro and Paul Merson to Portsmouth. Ipswich manager George Burley admitted he knows of Villa's interest for the player but he has yet to recieve a bid for the player. He also said
"I would love to keep all my players but in the present financial climate that is not possible. We will just have to wait and see what materialises."
So this proves that if Villa put a bid in for the player in the £3-5m region Burley would be happy to accept the offer as Ipswich have lost money after their relegation from the premier league last year. Other names that have been mentioned that Villa are interested in to fill that gap in midfield are, Muzzy Izzet, David Batty, Tim Sherwood and Belgium midfielder Timmy Simons.
