Mickey B returns in goal. With Martin and Karl out injured and Ashley, Steve, Dean and Marvin away Thornton were not looking forward to this one.

Thornton Heath's day started badly with the news that we had only a bare 11 for the cup game at Maori. With Karl, Martin, Steve, Dean, Marvin and Ashley out it wasn't looking good.

But with only 10 men on the pitch Thornton started brightly and scored within the first couple of minutes. Tony scored his first goal for Thornton heath with a great header from a corner. Soon after that things started to go wrong as Maori equalised from a well worked cross.

 

Then they got even worse when JJ got injured which left us with 9 men on the pitch. The ref then gave a dodgy penalty to Maori who put it away. But Thornton fought on bravely and was unlucky not to score towards the end of the half. The score at half time was Maori 3 Thornton heath1. Even thought we had 11 men on the pitch in the second half we were unable to stop Maori from scoring are only consolation was a goal from Paul B which brings his total for the season so far up to 13......
