Funny Food

Well during my friendship with Sarah, there has been many occasions when food has played a funny role in it. Below are some of the stories for your to smile at.

"Guess what I am eating and win a prize!"

Prize Phone

That is what Sarah said over MSN to me. I had to guess what she was eating without even seeing it or having any other clue. Now Sarah does not have 1 food which is her 100% eat all the time food, so this was going to be difficult. So I thoughtI ponderedI shrugged, going I had no idea "umm Pizza", I said. She then said that I WAS RIGHT! Jokingly I asked so what is my prize. I was expecting something stupide.g. like her saying "You have won an hour talking to me" or something as wacky. This is because that is how weird we normally are. The only thing is she did not say that, but instead "You have won a mobile phone". At this point I thought she was still mucking around, except she carried on to say, "I will give it to you next time I see you". I was in a state of shock because by simply guessing she was eating Pizza, meant I was gong to get a mobile phone! Ok I have to admit she was going to give me the prize anyhow even if I had guessed wrong but that is not the point. The point is that I guessed what she was eating, and due to this I had a new phone. See picture of me using the phone with Sarah's foot in the bottom!

PEELED GRAPES!

A Peeled Grape

Now for anyone who has read the "How much fun can you have in a park and ride car park" should already know how much fun grapes can be. One day while talking to Sarah on MSN again she said that she was eating grapes and she said, "Do you want one?" I said that, "I can only have them if they were peeled". We then carried on with our conversation ranting on about various other things when she sent me an invitation over msn to accept a picture. I accepted it and while it was downloading I was thinking "What on earth is it going to be?" I then received it, opened it and saw this green blob, A GRAPE!!!!! What is more is she had actually peeled the grape before she sent the photo! So although this picture here is only of a grape, it is really special to mesince Sarah took the time to peel it for me, then take a photo of it so that I could share her grapes with her. Thanks Sarah :D

Scanned Food

Fox's Chocolate Fudge Crunch Creams

Another day after the peeled grape story I was again chatting to Sarah on MSN. It came about that I mentioned that I was eating a biscuit, my favourite type. Anyway she said it was mean that I was eating them and not letting her have any. Due to this I then scanned the biscuit in and emailed it to her. Now previously between the both of us we had scanned in many biscuits and hula hoops, but out of all the scans this one I actually wanted to eat it looked that good.

What was even funnier was that when Sarah got the scanned biscuit she thought it was a photo, since the quality was so good. So have a look and enjoy your mouth watering as it wants to go and eat one.

Coq au Ruth

Coq Au Ruth ~ Before Cooked Coq Au Ruth ~ Putting In Oven Coq Au Ruth ~ Taking Out Of The Oven Coq Au Ruth ~ Cooked! Coq Au Ruth ~ On Plate YUM :D

One day Sarah decided that she would give me something to say thanks to me for being such a great friend and helping her through some bad times. Due to her knowing that I love chicken pies, but am not able to eat shop made ones since they put loads of spices and peppers in them, she made me a chicken pie. This was the first time one of my friends had ever cooked something from scratch especially for me. I felt really special. To me the thought behind the present is more important to me than the actual present.

Anyway while I was over at her flat she started to work her culinary magic and create the pie. I got to help and made the chicken sauce :D. As you can see from the pictures on the right it was placed in rather a BIG dish. Personally I have never seen such a big pie in all my life! But what was more amazing was that she prepared just the right amount of chicken, potatoes and carrots to put in the pie and that I also made just the right amount of sauce so that there was none to spare. The only thing she had a bit extra of was pastry, which did come in handy to make the R + S initials ontop of the pie, to show that it was our friendship pie :D.

Since I was rather happy at just the sight of the unmade pie, I decided to take photos of its progress from uncooked to cooked on the plate, as you can see on the right. As you can see Sarah is putting the pie into the oven and then is taking it out of the oven. I do love how I got these action shots and how it looks like it has come off a cookery program. Although from the pictures it does look rather burnt, it was actually cooked to perfection. Only the top was slightly blackened.

Due to the size of the dish and the inability to therefore remove the pie easily from the dish, it did end up looking an elephant had stood on it, when it was presented on the plate. To me this really did not matter, as it tasted great! I think if it had looked perfect it would not have been as special to me. Being there and helping to make it, with all the little problems we had along the way made it all the more special to me.

Afterwards we were deciding on a name for the dish, and it was decided that coq au Ruth should be the name. This all comes from the famous French dish of coq au vin, which translates to chicken with vine. So since we were having chicken with me (Ruth) it was called that.

I really enjoyed it and was soooo happy at all the thought and care that Sarah put in to make it for me. Thank you Sarah. You defiantly live up to your name of "Sarah Wonderful Hayes".

It might not be done yet

Once upon a time there was a pizza which Sarah was cooking in her oven for Ruth. While it was cooking they were in the front room doing stuff on the computer.

After about 10 minutes Ruth commented, "It smells like it is done".
Sarah replied, "Oh it is probably the thing I put in with the pizza you can smell".

So Sarah and Ruth carry on doing stuff on the computer. A bit later Ruth decides that she needs to use the little girl's room and so off she trots there. Due to this Sarah says, "I will just have a look to see how it is doing". Sarah then shouts to Ruth, "IT'S DONE!". As Ruth comes into the kitchen she sees her pizza. The thoughts of "are you sure it is done!" came to mind as she looked at the black, YES charcoal black pizza.

Now you might thinkoh it was probably just the top cheese which was burnt. NO! The fact that it was jet black, rock hard, knives could not cut it, and only had a sliver of 'non dry as a bone' dough in the middle kinda suggested it was burnt. Ruth tried a mouthful. Ok that was after Ruth nearly broke my teeth on it trying to bite a bit off. That was all Ruth could manage to eat of it! The only thing which made up for the lack of yummy pizza was the fact that if Ruth had not needed the bathroom, Sarah would not have gone to check how the pizza was doing and therefore it would have been cooked for longer!!! LOL, yes, it being charcoal black and rock hard could be seen as needing a bit longer in the oven just to make sure it was done. Tee he he. Although Ruth did not eat the pizza, she really enjoyed it. Everyone lived happily ever after.

The End.
