Vard Games was started in 2000 by Mark Hayes and Andy Hawley . Otherwise known as erm well I don't seen to have a nick name only a reputation but Hawley is the Pieman . Both of us hail from Gods own county of Yorkshire , and as such are both of Adonis proportions with the wit of Oscar Wilde and the intellect of Einstein . nether of us wear a flat cap though Andy has been seen with a whippet , Or was that a whip I can never remember . Though Andy comes from Sheffield an altogether more backward part of the county been as it is South of Barnsley so anything is possible .

We met in a car park at the local Halfords in Sheffield on route to a PBM conference in a beat up company astra  on route to which we hatched a vile plot top take over the world  .Together we reworked Andy's mech warfare game which at the time was called Robot wars , He had the name before the BBC , but since they are an international corporation and we isn't they won the courtroom battle to keep the name without paying us any royalties . Mainly because we never turned up . 

After we ran a successful but problem beset play test under the name MechMayhem we decided to redesign the game further and produced  MechMayhem 2: the salvage wars a game of ground breaking complexity and yet wonderfully fluid simplicity . 

After a little bit of hard work establishing world peace and designing a better paperclip we unleashed this on the general public . Luckily most of the general public have managed to survive the onslaught . surprising with the amount of damage two irate Yorkshire men with a game design can do ........................

Vardgames is now running MechMayhem as a full commercial game , and working in our spare time on Promotion wars a wrestling promotion game and several other projects 

Among my passions are football ( LUFC Forever) , writing ( several incomplete novels to my name ) and indoor golf 

Andy's passions are best not spoken of . Though looking at his personal site can open a few eyes ...
