Formed from experienced musicians, the band has been together writing and performing original material for over five years, but evolved into the current form when Catherine joined recently. The mixture of guitars, keyboards and big vocals create the Vivid sound and style. The band has been gigging regularly on the familiar circuit of London venues, including West One Four, Bull and Gate, Rock Garden, Hope and Anchor, the Red Eye and Half Moon.
Vivid aim for a big sound with clear and memorable melodies. They want their songs to be entertaining, varied and interesting to hear again and again. The music appeals to a wide range of people, being accessible and catchy but not mindless throw-away pop. There's plenty going on to make Vivid's music engaging and enduring; they inject individual personality into each song. Most important is the strong unashamedly catchy vocal melodies and harmonies. Catherine's voice brings power and energy to the tunes. This is complemented by jangly and acoustic guitars, with Tinkly piano and big chords. Behind all this is a very fat, solid sound with a definite crunch to it and punchy bass lines that really drive the songs along.
