ANDROID,
CYBORG and
MUTON
In
the early 1970s Takara, a Japanese toy manufacturer produced
a range of 12" action figures called Henshin Cyborg.
They also produced an 8" version of these toys called
Shonen Cyborg.
In the the mid 1970s UK toy manufacturer, Denys Fisher, produced
their own range of the 8" Shonen Cyborg toys.
They
changed the names of the toys from the original Android
A to Android, Shonen Cyborg to Cyborg, and King
Walder to Muton.
They
also reproduced accessories, costumes and vehicles for the
toys based on the Takara originals.
Shonen
Cyborg evolved into Takara's Microman series.
3.5" transparent or opaque figures with chrome heads
(a trend started by Android A.)
In
Europe and the USA some of the Microman figures and
accessories were manufactured by Mego as the Micronauts
(or I Micronauti in Italy.) |
