Today you went into town to look for a birthday present for you Aunt. She loves old books so you spent the afternoon searching in the second-hand book shops. You finally ended up in a tiny shop down an alleyway. There you found a first addition of Flower Fairies. You then realised that you will have to hurry or you will miss the bus. Just as you stood up to go, you noticed an old book tucked away at the back of the book case, the title was N'hrívë Lóna. You quickly look inside and are fascinated by the pictures and decide to buy that book as well.

By the time you had got home a storm had started, and you found that there was no electricity in the village. You don't mind. You make a fire and your tea and sit down to read your book by candle light. You open to the first page.

                 How it all began

In a far and distant place there is an island, the island of N'hrívë Lóna, the land of Never Winter, a place full of magic and mystery. Here dwell many mystic beasts of all shapes, sizes and colours. Each living in there own part of the island, but in harmony with each other. From the high cliffs in the north over looking the sea, through the forest of brown and orange leaf decked trees, to the flat meadows in the south leading onto the long white beaches. In the middle, rising it head's out of the forest is a volcano, Dinaer, the silent one, for as yet it has not spoken. In the East there is a marsh land with  many creeks and inlets, and in the West  the forest runs right op to the beaches which are full of boulders and rocks

The animals have been brought here by an elf who wished to preserve them from extinction. He travels to each far reaching places of the world bringing them back to live in peace. Although life here is not always simple and quiet, animals have been known to go off and do some exploring of their own.

There is a crash of lightening which makes you jump. You put the book down and put another log on the fire. You sit for a while watching the sparks and flames flash up. Then you pick up the book and turn to the next page. There is a picture of a forest. You blink; it must be your imagination. There seems to be eyes looking out at you. You look again. The trees seem to be getting bigger, and you seem to be drawn into the picture. The room around you becomes blurred, you close you eyes. When you open them again you are no longer in your house.
