Video covers
The Rogues Gallery
Here are my efforts at alternative video covers.  Yes, I know.  Rob White's are far better but the reason I'm doing my own is simply because I prefer to use classic artwork in most instances to wrap around my video tapes.  Call it sheer plagerism of you want to but it's a crime that some of the paperback art was never used for the actual video cases.  Some of the Black Sheep official releases are absolute garbage (eg Time Lash or The Happiness Patrol) and some of the stories aren't released yet.  Sometimes I feel the original video release artwork is improved simply by bringing them into line with the new logo and lettering.  Hopefully those official covers won't put people off buying the Doctor Who tapes.  I'm not trying to supercede any copyrights or anything - I do these covers for my own satisfaction and many of my friends have asked me to make them available on my web site.

Thanks to Cameron Mason for allowing me to put my new-style video covers up on his web site.  I am now in the process of re-doing all my video covers now with back covers.  Unfortunately, regular guests will know that web space has always been a bit small on the 'Trop and I've had to rotate my efforts on a monthly basis in order to show off the latest covers.  Now however, thanks to Cameron, I'll be able to simply keep adding to my gallery and hopefully build up a good range for others to use.  Simply click on the links below to see the VHS and DVD covers.

Measurements
Click on the link and wait for the full-size image to download.  Right mouse click and choose Save As.  Give it a title and stick it in a folder.  To print it out, go into page set up of an application such as Paint Shop Pro and enter the width as 143mm and the length as 197mm.  For best results use a Photo-realistic printer with photo-quality glossy card.
For the DVDs, the length is 185mm and the width is .  For the double video pack covers, things are slightly more trickier.  The thing just won't fit onto a normal A4 page.  Either trim an A3 sheet of paper into A4 wide or seperate the back cover from the front-with-spine and print out each on seperate sheets.  The back cover is 196mm long x 116mm wide and the front-with-spine is 196mm x 180mm wide.  Use any 'keep aspect/ratio' toggle on for guidance.
I fully intend to get round to doing DVD covers as well but since I'm literally starting from scratch again in order to do the covers well, it might take a long time.  You'll notice that the layout, format and over-all style improves.  That's because it's only through trial and error that I learned which colours work best, the correct font styles and sizes and optimum size of photographs etc.

Please, please get in touch with me via email for any sort of requests and/or feedback.  I'm open to suggestions.  If you have some rare but wonderful artwork you would like to see appear as a video cover then let me know, post me a scan and hopefully it'll appear here in future!
