Pete Cooper performs, composes, teaches and writes about fiddle music but it's as a fiddle teacher and workshop leader that he's best known. Pete gave hugely attended workshops last year and has agreed to come back again this year.
A stalwart of Hands On Music weekends in Witney, he's also a popular tutor at Folkworks events. Pete runs the London Fiddle School at Cecil Sharp House, sharing his enthusiasm and inspiring many of the new generation of young performers on the British folk scene.
Pete has written three books, the Complete Irish Fiddle Player (Mel Bay, 1995) remains a best-seller. Keen to introduce the joys of vernacular fiddling to classical players he has directed courses at Wigmore Hall, Dartington International Summer School, and the 2004 Genius of the Violin, London's Royal Academy. His new band Rattle On The Stovepipe, with Dave Arthur and flatpick guitarist Chris Moreton, perform English and Appalachian Old Time music.
