20 October 2002 - Wharfeside Record First Clean Sheet & Win Third Successive Game
Otley Wharfeside recorded their first ever clean sheet after beating Ilkley Dynamo 1 - 0 with Lee Travis scoring the only goal. Otley also continued their good form with their third successive victory beating Commercial at home in a close game which saw Dave Penniall score the winning goal just before full time.
12 October 2002 - Disappointing Start to New Season
Otley Wharfeside have begun the new 2002/03 season with a string of disappointing results both in league and cup games. After a narrow defeat by Hawkhill saw Wharfeside dumped out of the Wharfedale & District FA Airedale International Sunday Cup we secured a respectable draw against promotion contenders Milford before another close game against Keighley Athletic saw another early cup exit. An incredible game against Bradshaw Phoenix saw Otley progress through to the second round of the WRCFA County Sunday Trophy and restored confidence that Otley Wharfeside can now progress in the league. The clubs best wishes go to Graham Hawksby who suffered a double broken leg in a recent match. We wish him a speedy recovery.
