John George Dungey, Private, 6090, 1st Bn, Gloucestershire Regiment, Died of wounds 13th Sept 1915 aged 34

Buried in Fouquires Churchyard Extention, Pas de Calais, France.

The battalion war diary for 13th Sept 1915 reads " In trenches. relieve by south Wales Borderers. battalion proceeded to billets in Philosophe. 1 man killed and 3 wounded by shelling before leaving trenches." I assume that one of these casualties was John Dungey.

John was born in Pill, Somerset on the 8th August 1881 and was the son of William and Annie Dungey. Johns army record does not survive but I believe he was a regular soldier who enlisted in Bristol and  went to France on 2nd February 1915.
