This website provides information concerning our holiday home in the South of France. We have just recently bought our 2 bedroom home in the fortified town of Aigues-Mortes, Languedoc. Aigues-Mortes is 17 miles from Montpellier International Airport, approximately a 20 minute drive.
Steeped in history dating back to the Crusades, the ancient town of Aigues-Mortes within the ramparts is truly picturesque. It hosts pageantry festivals, medieval markets and theatrical events. Aigues-Mortes is additionally renowned for its excellent gastronomy. Many small restaurants line the streets and the square. The economy is closely linked to the natural resources of the region such as the salt pans which are still in production.
The small river port located at the foot of the ramparts is the departure point for excursions into the delta where flamingos and wild horses can be seen. The main costal resorts of Grau du Roi and Port Camargue are 5 miles driving distance and offer a full range of watersports and beach activities.
We have a newly-built 2 bedroom villa of approximately 40m2.
First Floor: There are two bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin). There is also a bathroom which includes a power shower.
Ground Floor: There is a lounge with TV, mini Hi-Fi and DVD. The floor is open plan with a dining area and a corner kitchen. The facilities include Hob, Extractor, Microwave grill combo, Fridge, and Washing Machine. In addition, there is a separate toilet.
Outside: We have a private garden with BBQ and patio furniture. There are also two sunloungers.
The development has allocated parking spaces and includes the use of a residents' swimming pool.
Our home is a short walk to the ramparts of Aigues-Mortes where you will find plenty of shops, restaurants and bars.
