Mods & Rockers
The Mods & Rockers run was bright and sunny to start with!!! We all meet up in Faversham with over 100 Vespas & Lambrettas all parked along the A249, the atmosphere was buzzing and the view was brilliant. We were parked up for about an half an hour to wait for the stragglers to turn up but still the weather had held off!.
As we all started off the noise was awesome the Vespa and Lambretta engines echoed through the air. About quarter of an hour after we started off a couple of Vespas had fallen by the way side (Nice looking Vespas as well), when we got into moughtenham? the sky opened and we had to take shelter under a line off trees WE WERE DRENCHED !! the rain was so heavy it was like a fog but we started of again towards Margate. As we entered Margate we decided to park up and get some chips and a warm drink but unfortunately for Barry & Myself all the cafes were full up so we were left sitting out side a chip shop freezing. At that point we decided that it was time to head back as pneumonia had started to take control. But can you credit it the rain stopped as we left Margate and we were dried out as we hit Faversham (Bugger, maybe we weren't meant to be on that run).

For some reason Barry & Myself decided that we would travel up to Mersea Island on One Scooter (My Burgman 400), not the best idea in the world the Burgman is a big scooter but when both the driver and pillion have back packs on that two hour journey feels like ten hours. So as you can imagine when we finally got to Mersea Island our backs were killing us.
We got the tent up and decided to take a trip to the local shop to get a 'few cans in' just to help sooth the pain from the riding up there (of course!). when we got back to the tent the others from the Sid James Club (Isle of Sheppey) turned up so we felt we should sit back and watch their expertise in putting up the tents (only took them 1-2 Hours).
The atmosphere was brilliant there were hundreds off scooters from Vespas to X9s. We meet an interesting man from America who goes by the name 'Scooter Daddy'. by all accounts he is well known in America and he has a load of Lambrettas in his garage in America. If you look in this months issue of Twist & Go you will see Waid (Scooter Daddy) and myself standing next to my pride (My Burgman 400) at the scooter rally.
The night time entertainment was good and the food was ok but the toilets were.... well it was safer to play on the M25 at rush hour
I would recommend going next year to the Mersea Island Scooter Rally
