Captain Philip Rentell is a serving Master Mariner who has been at sea over thirty years, the majority of which have been spent on passenger vessels. He has been in command since 1990.

 

He is a Bachelor of Law, a Fellow of the Nautical Institute, a member of the British Maritime Law Association and a Younger Brother of Trinity House.       

 

Captain Rentell has a specialist knowledge regarding the operation of passenger vessels, having worked for both owners and charterers. He has worked worldwide on vessels carrying American, Asian and European passengers and with crew of many different nationalities.

 

His knowledge regarding bridge procedure and the ISM code is both current and comprehensive.

 

Captain Rentell has prepared and delivered papers regarding passenger ship safety and operation. His summaries of accident reports have been published in the Nautical Institute magazine “Seaways”.
