Ted Boucher alias Zzar Bean.
I was born at Staunton
which is 8 miles from the city of Gloucester in the county of Gloucestershire UK.
When I was very young we moved to Churchdown, a village 3 miles to the east of the city,
where I have lived ever since.
In my time here the village has grown from a typically quiet backwater into a massive comumumity of over
10,000 inhabitants.
Married with four grown up children and three Grandchildren I am one of a rare breed who
can be found on a summer's afternoon watching our local cricket club at John Daniels playing field
with Chosen Hill as a backdrop, a glorious way to spend a Saturday. Perched on top of the hill is the 13th-Century church
of St. Bartholomew with it's commanding views of the village and surrounding area. (see photo) In the winter I transfer my allegiance to the
Gordon League Rugby Club at Hempsted in Gloucester where the young and not so young of the city play the game
in the true spirit of sportmanship.
For a living I drive an articulated lorry to various European countries mainly Belgium and Holland and sometimes
Germany. I've been on the road for over 30 years and in that time I've seen
many changes. A lot of the old skills are being lost and part of this site is my way of
trying to preserve them.
Emma my Granddaughter has her own page detailing her early years as she so quickly grows up.
I hope you enjoy your visit and any comments or new words for inclusion in the "Words & Meanings" glossary will be welcomed.
